Permanent Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is an excellent treatment method to eliminate unwanted hair.  The system has been gaining popularity due to its speed and effectiveness. One of its downsides is that it is not suitable for everyone. It is not recommended for people who have dark complexions and fine hair. This treatment is most effective on fair skinned people with dark hair. To be effective the hair to be removed must be darker than the surrounding skin. Laser is nothing more than highly concentrated light and it is a fact that dark colors tend to absorb light more.

There are many alternative hair removal options available in the market today, but laser hair removal tends to eclipse most of them. Electrolysis is one such popular method but if you factor in the cost component, hair removal by laser treatment comes out as more cost-effective.  Although it may require more sessions than electrolysis, the effects are long term and do not require
periodical follow-up treatments. Manual hair removal systems such as plucking, waxing and shaving do not produce long term effects.

Laser hair removal is also effective in removing unwanted body hair.  However it is not recommended for sensitive spots such as the area around the eyes because of the danger it presents if the laser is inadvertently trained directly on highly sensitive organs.  In general, most areas such as the upper lip, chest, armpits, face, abdomen, back bikini area and legs, are safe for laser hair removal treatment.

The results from laser treatment tend to be highly satisfactory.  However not all cases are the same and there may be patients who would need to undergo more treatment sessions than others.  Patients need to be aware also that the system is not the ultimate treatment method.  People should be wary of clinics or facilities that advertise that their laser hair removal system is guaranteed to permanently remove unwanted hair.  It is highly unethical in the medical profession to make exaggerated claims or to boast of high success rates.

The truth of the matter is, clinics that have good track records of satisfying clients rarely advertise their services and are very discreet. So it is best to ask people you rely on or your doctor to recommend a good clinic or treatment center to visit rather than rely solely on advertisements.  Also be careful of businesses that promote discounted rates. The skill and expertise required in this kind of field should not be open to compromise.

Choose clinics that do not make promises of instant results and those that use FDA-approved equipment and machines.  The general principle is, the more treatment sessions you get, the better the quality of the results. Cost is dependent on several factors, such as the size of the area that will be treated and the general physical attributes of the patient.  If you decide to have laser hair removal treatment, it is advisable to have yourself assessed first by a credible laser hair clinic.
