Upper Lip Hair Removal
Many women have unwanted upper lip hair. It is a disconcerting problem that will not go away on its own. There
are several upper lip hair removal techniques available, depending on the outcome you want and how much money you
are willing to spend. Some of these techniques can be painful, cause skin irritation and temporary reddening.
Several techniques work better than others but are not always 100% effective.
Causes of Upper Lip Hair
Facial hair growth can be caused by many different factors such as genetics, specific medications (e.g. steroid,
hormones), or medical abnormalities, like high androgen (male hormone levels) or endocrine system conditions like
polycystic ovarian syndrome or a change in hormone levels perhaps caused by the menopause.
Upper Lip Hair Removal Options
Plucking hair removal is your best option if you only have a few stray hairs to remove. It is the most painful
technique but it’s the most rewarding since you will only need to do it once or twice a week depending on the
growth rate of your hair.
Bleaching your upper lip hair repeatedly can make it look lighter than the rest of your facial area. If you’re
going with this technique, use fruit bleach once a month. This technique is fine but is not really a suitable
technique for your upper lips. It just lightens the hair but it would still be visible.
Waxing is a very popular upper lip hair removal. Warm wax is spread on the hair and pulled after it cools off.
If done properly, this technique pulls out the hairs by the roots. It can be quite painful but the results can last
for several weeks. This technique can be done at home or in a salon.
Depilatory cream can be spread on the hair for a short period. The cream will whittle away the hair shaft, at
times below the skin’s surface. The cream is normally left on the skin for about five minutes and then wiped off.
This technique provides you with several hair-free skin days. However, for those with sensitive skin, this may not
be your best option. These creams also can’t be used on cut or irritated skin and should not be used near the eye
area.
Electrolysis is a technique carried out by inserting a needle into the skin, by the side of a hair. A short
electric charge is then shot through the hair to kill it and then the hair is pulled out using tweezers. The
electrolysis hair removal technique can result in permanent, hair removal. Some hairs will grow back over time.
Several sessions will be needed to achieve the best results.
There is no such thing as a right technique, just a technique that works best for you. Choose an upper lip hair
removal method that fits you and your lifestyle.
